My Dog pulls on the Lead

First of all Collars ; I always recommend Half Check my second choice would be a flat collar , regards E-collars, Prong Collars and Check Chains I would advise before putting one of these on your dog, Slip one onto your Thigh clip a lead on and get another person to give it 2 good yanks, It is completely up you on what Collar you decide to use.
Pulling;(all below is with a 48” lead)

1. This is one I like best and use.
The whole idea is to always have a lose lead,
Start walking as soon as he (the dog) starts to pull stop and without saying a word wait. When he comes back (which he will do given time) as soon as he get’s back start walking at a slow pace then repeat above. Keep repeating, so what you are doing is making him use his brain that if he pulls your not going any where, Remember no good boys just keep quite.

2. This one you might feel a bit silly.
It is very simple with both hands behind your back hold the lead quite short and walk with him right behind you. (he cannot pull because you are in the way)when he settles
Let go with the right hand and let him come to your left side, if he tries to go head bring him back behind you and repeat above.
I do think this is the easiest and the most effective.

3. This one you need a big open space.
With this one you just keep walking and change directions could be 2 steps turn right then 4 steps turn left then about turn keep mixing it up, with different steps and turns
So he never gets the chance to get a head and pull.

All the above can be also used with head collars.

One Final point be consistent and enjoy, No good saying I’m late for work etc.

I use head collars just for the simple reason mine walk beautifully until they see a cat!! After Marley damaged my shoulder lunging at said cat which took 2 years to heal I use the head collar for health and safety reasons!!
